The NBA Draft is a great night for fans of all the teams involved, it officially marks the start of the next NBA season and a chance for general managers to add some young talent to bolster up their rosters for years to come. That is if they make the correct pick. It can be an immensely tough decision to make, there are numerous factors to take into consideration and even with all the information in the world you just never know how a young kid is going to adapt to the NBA game and lifestyle. For the players this is the greatest night of their life, the moment they have been dreaming about their entire life is finally here. All those hours in the gym in an effort to improve their game have finally paid off. And you couldn’t help but be happy for each and every one of them.

The 2015 NBA Draft was filled with a few surprises of its own. Starting with the Los Angeles Lakers selecting point guard D’angelo Russell from Ohio State University with the second overall pick. When many expected them to go with Center Jahlil Okafor of Duke University who was the best big man prospect in recent years. But I’m sure the fans of the Philadelphia 76ers didn’t mind Jahlil falling to them at #3, especially with the injury history of former lottery pick Joel Embid. But the surprise of the night might of been the New York Knicks at #4 who went the international route and selected The Latvian sensation, Kristaps Porzingis. While he has an enormous amount of talent and untapped potential at the end of the day he is a project pick who will need a few years to develop and the Knicks don’t have the luxury of waiting for him to catch up to speed. Their start player Carmelo Anthony is 31-years-old and wants to win now while he is still in the prime of his career. Mounted on top of the fact that their passionate fan base has been waiting over 40 years for a the Larry O’Brien trophy to return to the “Mecca of Basketball”. Guess the Knick fans and organization will have to be patient with Kristaps and hope for the best!
