The Los Angeles Clippers entered Wednesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder an atrocious 1-8 against the NBA’s top five teams. And for a majority of the game last night it seemed as if they were heading toward a 1-9 record, especially when they were faced with a 22-point deficit and maybe even more so when they entered the fourth quarter down 17.
As NBA teams were a measly 2-167 when entering the fourth quarter down 17 or more this season. But through a dramatic change of events that would all change, as the Thunder couldn’t make a shot, kept turning the ball over, and couldn’t get stops down the stretch. The Clippers took full advantage of these mistakes and would tear off a dominant 26-5 run to end the ball game. Leaving Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and the rest of the Oklahoma City Thunder players in shock of what took place.
Should this inability to close out regular seasons wave a red flag when it comes to the Thunders’ title chances? It might be a little too early to make that conclusion but if they don’t get it together soon it can indeed come back to haunt them in the post season!
