Dom Mazzetti: Why Rest Days Are Bullshit!

For serious lifters, rest days can be the outright worst. Rather than enjoying their off day and the fact that they get some time away from the grind of the gym, we spend our free hours stressing over the fact that we aren’t in the gym. Because all that is on our mind are the gains that we could be getting after. While the determination and dedication is highly commendable, it won’t by any stretch make your gains any easier to come by. On the contrary, going all out on a daily basis can become extremely detrimental to your gains. A lack of proper recovery and rest time will lead to plateaus. Without the sufficient recovery time your musculoskeletal system, nervous system, and immune system become compromised, which will put you at risk for injury, illness, weak lifts, and a groggy attitude. However the famous Dom Mazzetti doesn’t agree with any of this logic and actually believes that rest days are flat out bullshit. Failing to believe that taking some time off to allow your body to recover actually has any benefits. Asking that if that is true than why doesn’t it apply to sloths? ” Ok smart guy if that’s true, if you build muscle when you rest, what about sloths?..”  That might have something to do with the fact that sloths don’t partake in any physical activity and all they do is rest.
