G Money: The MMA Fighter With Down Syndrome Battling For His Right To Fight

by Brandon

Garrett Holeve, also known as “G Money” has always had a burning desire to become a Mixed Martial Arts fighter but his unfortunate disability has made it difficult for his dream to become a reality. That unfortunate disability I speak of is down syndrome and while others may allow it to take over what they can or cannot do in life, Garrett refuses to lose his battle with it. He had a dream of becoming an MMA fighter and made up his mind that nothing would get in the way of making it happen. However, it hasn’t been an easy road as Government officials in his home state of Florida got in the way of allowing his first fight to take place. Canceling it  just minutes prior to the fight getting started. But G Money and his father wouldn’t allow his dreams to be shattered so easily and would continue to fight for Garrett’s right to fight inside of the ring. Through an incredible amount of persistence and perseverance Garrett was able to have his first fight take place in Missouri just a year later. How did the fight end up turning out? I’ll let you find that out for yourself. Take a look at the video below to get a look into a young man with down syndrome continuing to fight for his dream regardless of how slim the chances might seem to others.
