Is This Real? 30 Squats As Payment To Ride the Russian Subway.

by Adam Smith

How would you encourage the citizens of your city to exercise more? Perhaps you could build more bike lanes or walking trails. Maybe public parks with exercise equipment? Well in Russia, at the Vystavochnaya train station, there are now machines that accept a short workout as a form of payment.

So in lieu of having to break out the change to purchase a ticket, citizens have the option to do 30 squats in front of the ticket booth to pay their fare. The video below shows the machine, as well as train commuters, in action in this innovative way to encourage more physical activity.
