When performing the shoulder press whether it be seated or standing; And whether you use dumbbells or a barbell it is key to focus on your technique because a slight tweak can ensure you are getting the most out of each repetition. While at the gym you will generally come across individuals who perform the military press by pressing outward which will put the emphasis on your front delt. Which is not incorrect if you are looking to improve upon your front delt development but for those who are looking to build the full delt should’nt practice that technique. You want to focus on pressing upward, over your head. However make sure not to push backwards, behind your head as that can cause an injury.
