When it comes to increasing your bench press what is the first thing that comes to mind? I am pretty sure the answer to that question is to add more weight. And while going up in weight can definitely increase your bench press that is only true if you are lifting with proper form and are actually getting a good amount of reputations in. But what many lifters fail to realize is that you can in fact build the most muscle mass and strength in the eccentric or lower portion of the lift. Which for many can come as a surprise being that most of the attention of most lifters goes to getting the bar up as many times as possible.
