by Brandon

To the majority, Puerto Rico is a island that is currently in the middle of a economic decline. But to New York Knicks Star Forward, Carmelo Anthony it is a place that symbolizes family, opportunity and a growing sports culture. Carmelo took a trip to La Perla, one of PR’s most notorious hoods to hang out with reggaeton legend Tempo and to pump some energy into the town. He fully understands the ability he has to change people’s life due to his celebrity status. A visit to the toughest slums in Puerto Rico might not seem like much to many but to the people of the area it gives them an oppurtunity to forget about their circumstances and enjoy the day. Melo also managed to get some work done in the beautiful island of PuertoRico as he flew out a group of his teammates to train together and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Once again something that might seem small to many but it can in fact go a long way in building continuity and cohesion throughout the team, which will pay big dividends once the regular season kicks-0ff. Seems like Carmelo is adopting more a leadership role coming into the 2015-16 season and if he’s teammates follow his lead it can be a good year for Knicks fans everywhere. Take a look at how Melo’s trip to Puerto Rico went down in the video below!
