We all face tons of adversity throughout our lifetimes but every now and then you are made aware about a man or woman whose struggle is so compelling that it forces you to stop take notice and become incredibly inspired. One such story is that of IFBB Wheelchair bodybuilder Nick Scott.
Nick grew up like most young boys do, with aspirations of one day growing up to be a successful professional athlete and getting all the girls. But his life drastically changed on August 17, 1998, when a tire suddenly blew out on his Buick Skylark. His car would go on to roll over a total of 5 1/2 times and even eject neck out of his seat.
It was at the Hospital where Nick would get the devastating news that he might not ever walk again. Paralyzed from the waist down, he struggled to accept his disability and fell into a deep depression which resulted in Nick ballooning up to 300 pounds. It was at this point where Nick would completely change his life and begin to make a huge impact on many lives across the nation.
Coming back wasn’t easy but it shows how powerful the mind truly is. Once you instill a vision into it, it doesn’t matter how insurmountable the odds may seem there is no stopping your from getting to your goals. Nick’s life changed forever but he wasn’t ready to throw in the towel and give up, he knew what he wanted and didn’t let anybody get in his way from getting it.
“What’s the one thing you gain from losing everything?” he asks. “It’s perspective. Because it wasn’t about if my glass was half empty or half full. I was just grateful that I had a glass.”
