The Golden State Warriors looked to get back on track after a slight step back against the Los Angeles Lakers, a game in which nobody expected the Lakers to even stay close. And while one loss might not matter much when you stand at 55-5 with the leagues best record, when you are chasing the NBA’s record for most wins in a season every win is crucial.
However the Warriors had their sights set on breaking other records last night when they faced the Orlando Magic at Oracle Arena. The Warriors entered the game on a 44 game home win streak, looking to set the NBA’s home win record with their 45 consecutive win. That they did, led by their dynamic backcourt also known as the “Splash Brothers.” Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson carried the team to victory last night, combining for a total of 68 points.
Curry contributed 41 of those 68 points and made some history of his own, becoming the first player in NBA history with 300 three pointers made in a season. Pretty remarkable when you take into consideration that the Warriors still have 20 games left on their regular-season schedule. Seems like this will be a record that will be broken over and over again by Curry himself.
